Christopher A. Slater



Christopher received Bachelor of Arts degrees in History and Law and Society from the University of California Santa Barbara.  He received his Juris Doctor degree from Willamette University College of Law in Salem, Oregon.  He graduated Order of Barristers, recognition for his work performed in trial practice and moot court competitions.

Christopher is licensed to practice in Oregon and Washington.  He is a member of the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association (OTLA), the Washington State Trial Lawyers Association (WSTLA) and the American Trial Lawyers Association (ATLA).

Christopher serves clients in the areas of employment discrimination, personal injury, wrongful death, maritime injury, workers' compensation, disability, and class actions.  He has represented clients in state and federal courts in Oregon and Washington, as well as before the Oregon Workers' Compensation Board, the Social Security Administration, and the United States Department of Labor.

Christopher has served as lead counsel in a number of cases, including Mankey v. Interstate Distributor Co., a $2.2 million lawsuit filed on behalf of a truck driver against his employer for obesity discrimination.  Christopher has been interviewed on local and regional television and radio stations and has appeared on The Abrahms Report on MSNBC-TV and on Your World with Neil Cavuto on the Fox News Channel.

Christopher and Michael recently spoke before a group of workers' compensation attorneys at a continuing legal education course sponsored by the Oregon Workers' Compensation Attorneys section of the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association.  Christopher and Michael spoke about workers' compensation discrimination in the workplace and presented practice tips for attorneys helping injured workers with problems at work.

Christopher is currently lead counsel for SLATER | ROSS in a class action filed against Verizon Communications and Verizon Northwest for disclosing customer telephone records to the National Security Agency.  The case may impact millions of customers in the United States, including over two million customers in the Northwest.
